Peer Light is a conversation series created by CFI in 2026.
We built this storytelling platform around CFI’s mission and mantra: “Nothing about us without us.”
Over the course of 6 months, staff members participated in Peer Light conversations, where they developed the questions they wanted to ask each other and the questions they wanted to be asked themselves. In this first iteration, you’ll get to hear from CFI staff members on what it means to live “independently,” misconceptions tgat the general public has about those living with disabilities, and how they learn best. Oh, and you’ll also get to hear what questions they wish people would stop asking them, as well as what question they wish others would ask themselves. See some of the features and words below.
Interested in participating in Peer Light? See far below on how to participate.

“I come from a military background. Each time I come across a veteran, they recognize that I'm there for them, and that I do everything in my power to make sure that they get taken care of.”

“I started out as an activist as a young activist, like WTO-type. I really did not mean to be an executive director. My concern was in the inequities. How do we keep movements going?”

About Peer Light
In 2026, CFI enlisted Slow Blink, a Seattle-based storytelling, to help curate an immersive, conversation-based, participatory platform for its community members. This is just the beginning for Peer Light. In this first iteration and launch of the platform, it features words, insights, and perspectives from CFI’s staff members. However, this platform was built to be a resource and tool for CFI’s community members, and anyone living with a disability in Washington State.
Later this year, there will be three ways to participate: 1) Do a spotlight interview with CFI; 2) Choose one of our 7 community questions to answer (you can do so by text, audio, or video); and 3) Join one of our advocacy days, where a Peer Light booth will be available. Make sure to sign up for CFI’s newsletter, as we plan to announce when the platform is officially open for community participation. We can’t wait to hear your voice.
