Position Description

Position Title: Associate Director Department: Administration

Reports To: Executive Director Exempt: Yes

Summary

In response to our common mission to serve as a resource for individuals with disabilities as they gain full access and participation in their communities, the Associate Director’s primary role is to stand in for the Executive Director in his/her absence. This position will support the Executive Director’s work while also having chief responsibilities related to program development. They will provide leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure that CFI programs and services operate consistently ethically within the mission and vision of the organization. This position will ensure that best practices are pursued in all programs, and that services align with the goals set forth in the strategic plan. The Associate Director will collaborate with the management team to develop and implement plans to improve operational infrastructure and internal systems, operational processes, and personnel. This position will supervise staff responsible for direct consumer services. This position will support advocacy efforts and be a strong voice for disability rights and a catalyst for systemic change in the community and state platforms.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONIBILITES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Partner with the Executive Director to chart future growth and development based on community need.

• Identify best practices and improve internal systems with an eye toward future opportunities.

• Ensure that CFI services represent best practices and are transformational in their outcomes.

• Build and maintain strong community relationships.

• Create and maintain an environment that translates the mission of CFI into actions that are conducive to the maximum well-being of the clients served.

• Assure that services provided are of appropriate quality and are consistent with CFI philosophical principles.

• Facilitate coordination among all departments and programs of CFI in delivery of services to clients.

• Secure and sustain adequate funding via contracts and other funding opportunities.

• Administer client and employee problem resolution processes, taking necessary action to control or eliminate the recurrence of complaints, concerns and problems.

• Represent CFI at professional, government, allied services and community organizations, promoting positive public relations.

• Participate in meeting of the Board of Directors, in the absence of the Executive Director. Interacts on a daily, weekly and monthly basis with clients and their families in formal and informal settings.

• Manage contracts and insures all work is completed as prescribed either personally or through subordinates.

• Manage all Human Resources management functions of CFI

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Accountable for the overall direction and coordination of all CFI employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with CFI policies and applicable laws. Responsibilites include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning assigning, and direct work; appraising performance together with the Executive Director; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in business or social services administration or some other related field. Three or more years experience as an administrative manager in a social setting. Three or more years experience in fund accounting and budgeting or are willing to receive training.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex scientific, financial and legal documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, employees and the business community. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to clients, employees, top management, public groups, and the Boards of Directors.

MATHMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Abilty to apply concepts such as fraction, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability tio interpret an extensive variety of data in various forms and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

MSW or MA in social services, rehabilitation or related fields. 5+year’s nonprofit agency administration experience. Strong working knowledge and 5+years experience working with disabled clients, interpreting and applying ADA regulations; and implementation of independent living philosophy, principles and practices. Background or education in Human Resources.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

$50,000 per year with 11 paid holidays + 2 personal holidays, 3 weeks of PTO, Medical, Dental, Vision and Life insurance available after successful completion of probationary period. 401(k) available after one year of service.
